The band gained the most popular when it won the grammys award for their single Stacys mom. Adam Schlesinger said that their album which won the grammy labeled as Stacys mom was a tribute to the band because he could not work for the band in previous years. The MTV president Judy McCarthy also used their song The cars in the movie Fast times at Ridgemont High, done by Rachel hunter. Their song from another album which was also quite famous All kinds of time also used for commercial purposes in 2005
